Precedent: Sts Sergius and Bacchus, Istanbul, Isidorus of Miletus and Anthemius of Tralles, 1513
With the use of lineaments, plans, sections, and a 3d model was recreated from the selected precedent plan. Parent plans and variations were then created and one was selected as a module for designing an apartment complex as a whole.
Physical Model of Apartment Complex that was designed using the modules
While analyzing the plan of Sts. Sergius and Bacchus Church, a rotation along the whole form was first noticed along with three main forms overall the plan. While most of the form was made similar to a square, the left side had the form of a hexagon while the left had a rectangle. Additionally, the forms were divided between the interior and exterior of the plan. Three centers were found from each of the three main forms and two axes; one true axos and one rotation axis. Along the rotation axis, two of the forms were found following the rotation, while one of the forms were rotated the opposite, direction. From one of the centers, four circles were found within the geometry of the plan, determining the interior reflective parts. Along the exterior, is the form of a rotated square along an axis together a relationship of the three forms beside each other.
